Optimal group sequential tests with groups of random size

چکیده
We consider sequential hypothesis testing based on observations that are received in groups of random size. The assumed to be independent both within and between the groups. assume group sizes their distributions known formed observations. We concerned with a problem simple against alternative. For any (group) test, we take into account following three characteristics: its type I II error probabilities average cost observations. Under mild conditions, characterize structure tests minimizing among all whose do not exceed some prescribed levels.

Optimal Asymmetric One-Sided Group Sequential Tests
We extend the optimal symmetric group sequential tests of Eales & Jennison (1992) to the broader class of asymmetric designs. Two forms of asymmetry are considered, involving unequal type I and type II error rates and different emphases on expected sample sizes at the null and alternative hypotheses. We discuss the properties of our optimal designs and use them to assess the efficiency of the f...
متن کاملOPTIMAL STATISTICAL TESTS BASED ON FUZZY RANDOM VARIABLES
A novel approach is proposed for the problem of testing statistical hypotheses about the fuzzy mean of a fuzzy random variable. The concept of the (uniformly) most powerful test is extended to the (uniformly) most powerful fuzzy-valued test in which the test function is a fuzzy set representing the degrees of rejection and acceptance of the hypothesis of interest. For this purpose, the concepts o...
متن کاملOptimal Sequential Multiple Hypothesis Tests
This work deals with a general problem of testing multiple hypotheses about the distribution of a discrete-time stochastic process. Both the Bayesian and the conditional settings are considered. The structure of optimal sequential tests is characterized.
متن کاملOptimal Non-Parametric Prediction Intervals for Order Statistics with Random Sample Size
In many experiments, such as biology and quality control problems, sample size cannot always be considered as a constant value. Therefore, the problem of predicting future data when the sample size is an integer-valued random variable can be an important issue. This paper describes the prediction problem of future order statistics based on upper and lower records. Two different cases for the ...
متن کاملAsymptotically Optimal Sequential Tests for Nonhomogeneous Processes
It is shown that under certain conditions the matrix sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) and the combinations of \rejecting" SPRTs minimize all moments of the stopping time distribution in the problem of sequential testing of several simple hypotheses for nonhomogeneous processes when probabilities of errors tend to zero. We consider the general case of observation process with discrete or...
